Your promptsstay yours.

Privacy policy · Last updated October 6, 2026

The short version: we never store, log, or sell what you type. Quick clean runs entirely on your device. AI features send your prompt to be rewritten, then discard it. Signed-in users' savings stats sync to their account. Their prompts never do.

  1. 01

    Who we are

TerraWatch (“we”, “us”) makes the TerraWatch browser extension, the twc command-line tool, and the website terrawatch.app. This policy covers all three. Questions go to adminterrawatch@gmail.com.

  2. 02

    Data we collect

    • Text you type on supported AI sites. On ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, DeepSeek, Copilot and Mistral, the extension reads the text in the chat box so it can count tokens and suggest compressions. This happens inside your browser. The text only leaves your device when you click Deep rewrite or Expand, or when you send a prompt through the CLI (see “Who we share it with”).
    • Account information. Your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your email address and the basic profile details that provider shares, such as your name and profile picture.
    • Usage records (signed-in users). For each compression: the date and time, the site it happened on, the mode used, token counts, a prompt quality score and category, and the estimated energy, CO₂, water and cost saved. These records never include the text of your prompt.
    • Subscription information. If you upgrade to Pro, payment is handled by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID, subscription ID and plan status. We never see or store your card details.
    • CLI sign-in. A hashed access token, the name of the device it was created for, and when it was last used.
    • Anonymous product events. The extension sends simple counts to our server (an install, a compression, a deep rewrite, an upgrade, and tokens saved). These carry no prompt text, no account ID and no other identifier.
    • Website analytics. terrawatch.app uses Vercel Web Analytics, which records page views, the referring site, browser and device type, and country. It uses no cookies.
    • Technical data. Like any website, our servers see your IP address when you connect. We use it only to prevent abuse (rate limiting) and do not attach it to your account.
    • Waitlist email, if you join a waitlist.

The extension also keeps your settings, your local savings totals and, if you sign in, your session in your browser's extension storage on your device.

  3. 03

    How we use it

    • To run the product: compressing prompts, deep rewrites, expanding prompts, and the CLI.
    • To sign you in, keep you signed in, and manage your plan and payments.
    • To show your dashboard, history, streaks and share cards.
    • To send account emails (verification, password reset) and savings reports. You can unsubscribe from reports with the link in any of them.
    • To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse.
    • To understand, in aggregate, how the product is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, use it to decide creditworthiness or lending, or use your prompts to train AI models.

  4. 04

How we store and protect it

Account data, usage records and subscription details are stored in our database, hosted by Supabase. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access is restricted to the services that need it.

Prompt text is never stored. When you use Deep rewrite, Expand or the CLI, the text is processed in memory to produce the result and then discarded. We do not log it.

If you are signed out, your savings totals stay in your browser's extension storage and never leave your device.

  5. 05

    Who we share it with

We never sell or rent your data. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of TerraWatch for us, and only what each one needs:

    • Anthropic:the prompt text you send with Deep rewrite, Expand or the CLI, to produce the rewritten version. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API inputs are not used to train its models.
    • Supabase: database and sign-in. Stores your account data and usage records.
    • Vercel: hosts our website and servers, and provides the cookie-free website analytics.
    • Stripe: processes payments and manages subscriptions.
    • Resend: sends our emails. Receives your email address and the content of the email, such as your savings stats.
    • Google and GitHub: only if you choose to sign in with them.

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, to protect the safety and rights of our users or TerraWatch, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

  6. 06

    How long we keep it

We keep account data and usage records while your account is open, and delete them within 30 days of your request to delete your account. Prompt text is never kept. Anonymous product events are kept only as totals. Stripe keeps billing records for as long as the law requires. Waitlist emails are kept until you ask us to remove them. Data in your browser is removed when you sign out or uninstall the extension.

  7. 07

    Your choices and rights

    • Use Quick clean without an account. It runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing to us.
    • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account and all associated data.
    • Unsubscribe from savings reports with the link in any report.
    • Sign out of the extension or CLI, or uninstall the extension, at any time.

To exercise any of these, email adminterrawatch@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California), you may have further rights under local law, and we honor them.

  8. 08

    Chrome Web Store Limited Use

TerraWatch's use of information received through the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this data only to provide and improve the extension features you see, we do not transfer it except as described above, and no one at TerraWatch reads your data unless you ask us to, it is needed for security or to comply with the law, or it has been aggregated so it no longer identifies you.

  9. 09

    Children

TerraWatch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

  10. 10

    Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we also email account holders before the change takes effect.
